J.L. Smith is looking for a repair technician in Charlotte, NC to help us with our overriding purpose, to Elevate the Experience of the Musician.

Our expertise on the bench has built our international reputation for serving musicians and technicians from novice to artist. Our shop serves as a breeding ground and real-world testing lab for innovative pads, parts, tools, and supplies for building and servicing of all wind instruments. Job Description:
Work in the craft of Wind Instrument repairs and adjustments with a focus and concentration on Flutes. Deliver excellent customer service and concert ready instruments to the customer performing COA's (Clean, Oil, Adjust), Trial Instruments, and Mechanical Restorations.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect new Flute Inventory
  • Be able to complete initial set ups following company protocol for brand specific set ups
  • Ensure instruments are detailed (including the case)
  • Evaluate instruments for consignments and inventory purchases
  • Interact with customers in scheduling work and repairs
  • Troubleshoot repair work
  • Prep instruments for Trials, Shows, demos
  • Maintain and organized, and clean work space for the shop
  • Be able to recommend work to the client
  • Be able to provide feedback on prototypes and supplies

Requirements:
  • Able to play test instrument
  • Associates degree
  • 2-3 years' experience in instrument repairs preferred and specifically Wind Instruments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong curiosity and desire to learn
  • Able to organize and problem solve
  • Ability to work and perform at the highest level and commitment to craft
